About
Pay No Attention to the Man Behind the Curtain…
Parisim.net is maintained by yours truly, Paul Simpson.
I’m a twenty-something, graduate of the University of Oklahoma, with degrees in Economics and Philosophy.
In July 2009 I commissioned as a Second Lieutenant, branched Infantry, in the United States Army. I am currently finishing up training at Fort Benning, Georgia and hope to be at my first duty station, Fort Riley, Kansas, by late Summer 2010.
I’ve been an avid computer user since my first days of plugging away on a 386 in my father’s office. I remember vividly our first Creative Labs CD-ROM drive (1X!) and competing aginst my father to see who could finish Myst first. I first stumbled onto the internet with Mosaic and CompuServe and haven’t looked back. I began building computers in high school and had a hodge-podge network in my garage called ‘The Cave’ (in homage to the name of the apartment in Jon Katz’s Geeks: How to Lost Boys Rode the Internet Out of Idaho). This spawned my first website – a TypePad blog hosted on a computer (‘Edna’) in my garage using DynDNS. I’ve since lost the domain name – it was caveism.net, but never lost my desire to have a spot on the web. In late 2004 I made the transition from PC to Mac and began my love affair with Mac OS X with a 12″ PowerBook. Laltey, however, I’ve begun to miss the hack and whine of building my own PCs and have thought of either entering the Hackintosh game or just jumping ship back to Windows 7 on my desktop. Don’t tell Steve.

That’s all you get for now, I’ll post more later.
